Overview
Mari for Mac is 3D painting without limits, combining the power and performance to handle even the most complex assets with artist-friendly 3D paint tools that make the most of your creativity.
With Mari for macOS’s new Materials System, you can now rapidly create high-volume assets in the same industry-standard package used for complex hero assets! Mari: the complete painting package for heroes, backgrounds, and everything in between.
It delivers new flexible, artist-friendly color management workflows. Color space properties are available on both images and on individual channels of multi-channel images, eliminating the requirement to preprocess or post-process images into the correct color space.
New shaders designed to simulate those used in industry-standard rendering and game engines—Arnold, V-Ray, Unreal, and Redshift—let you paint your textures in their intended final context, providing more realistic previews and giving you the confidence that your textures will work as expected.
It delivers four new APIs that help studios integrate Mari for Mac with their rendering pipeline, reducing the need to transfer files between applications and resulting in faster iterations. Potential applications include real-time viewport display, network rendering, and texture baking.
Features and Highlights
Artist-friendly paint tools you’ll love
Mari’s intuitive brush toolkit and projection painting let you forget about technology and focus on your creativity. Choose from a selection of preset brushes or work with familiar ABR Photoshop brushes, and finesse your painting with non-destructive tech
Build up your look
3D painting has never been more fluid or flexible. Whether you’re working in Mari’s powerful node graph or layer system, you can freely mix paint with procedurals, filters, color correction, and masks.
Take huge complexity in your stride
With the ability to handle numerous UV tiles per object, real-time interaction with millions of polygons, and support for up to 32K textures, It offers virtually limitless detail while shielding you from complex file management tasks.
Eliminate the guesswork
Mari’s physically correct interactive preview features shadows, environment lighting, specular highlights, and built-in support for Unreal, Arnold, V-Ray, and Redshift shaders, so you can develop your look with confidence.
Bake it till it’s done
Use Modo’s powerful baking engine to bake textures right from within the app, and automatically apply the resulting baked texture to the mesh. You can also get better performance on complex projects with Mari’s non-destructive bake point nodes.
The perfect fit for your pipeline
While every pipeline is different, the program fits right in, with support for open standards like OpenColorIO and OpenSubdiv, formats like FBX and Alembic, and extensive APIs and Python scripting.
Note: Limited functionality in the demo version.
