Developed by Satoshi Nakamoto (the father of bitcoin and the modern cryptocurrency movement) and hosted on bitcoin.org, this app receives regular upgrades with new security tools, services, and UI addons. This finance manager manages to provide a wide array of features to macOS users of all knowledge levels without the need for online/cloud wallet destinations.
- Better security for their bitcoins
- Privacy features not available in other wallets
- User interfaces and other powerful features
Instead of relying on cloud management, this app Bitcoin Core for macOS allows everyone to take control over their bitcoin wallets and transactions in an offline app that can be disconnected from the web and the countless online digital threats that aim to compromise valuable users’ crypto assets. This makes it perfect for users who prefer to take full control over the security of their digital funds and create secure offline backups of their cryptocurrency wallets.
The user interface of the Bitcoin Core wallet manager is straightforward to use, with a simple dashboard that promotes easy discovery of all of its tools and services. The main screen of the app features the listing of four main tabs “Overview” for an easy listing of users' current Bitcoin wallet balance, “Send” for streamlined sending of bitcoin accounts to other users, “Receive” for fast creation of forms to request payments, and “Transactions” that is home to a detailed activity listing.
The desktop app also features four additional main dropdown menus (File, Settings, Window, and Help) and the main notification area at the very bottom of the window. The File dropdown menu is especially important because it hides all the tools for creating, opening, and closing wallets, as well as the Backup tool. The Settings menu is home to an “Encrypt Wallet” feature that can additionally protect it against unauthorized access.
Bitcoin Core is distributed online as an automated installer that can be easily deployed on any modern Mac. The app is optimized for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of macOS.
