Overview
ClipGrab for Mac is a lightweight but incredibly capable video downloader and converter that has built-in tools for automatic downloading of content from major video hosting websites such as YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, CollegeHumor, MySpass, Clipfish, Sevenload, Tudou, and MyVideo. Built from the ground up to serve both novices and seasoned Mac users, ClipGrab represents one of the best apps for creating a local library of online video content.
User Interface of ClipGrab for macOS is incredibly simple and intuitive. To successfully download video on your local storage, you will first have do input the URL of the video page. In addition to manually pasting the URL in the scan field, the app can also monitor your clipboard for any appearance of supported URLs. The app does not feature any browser-integrations, forcing you to start the app manually every time you want to download content from your favorite video hosting websites.
If the app successfully recognized the page URL, it will provide few customization options such as the format of the video clip and the quality preset that is offered by the video host service. Support for downloading videos in HD resolutions and audio-only MP3 or OGG files is fully present. The app can even incorporate the ID3 artist tags and create audio files that have all the available metadata already infused into them. The download procedure can be initiated by simply choosing the video format, quality and clicking on the “Grab this clip!” button. The app showcases log of all recently downloaded videos, with an option to cancel the initiated download or to open the target folder for the selected downloaded video.
Even though the video hosting sites sometimes do not offer audio-only option, Clip Grab app can by itself download and convert videos into audio formats of your choice – MP3, OGG and original audio format. The settings tab includes numerous customization options for download Target Path, Metadata management, Notification, Proxy options, and others.
ClipGrab is 100% FREE and is optimized for use on all modern versions of macOS.
