Overview
Evil Nun: The Broken Mask is a horror video game where players are tasked to escape the haunted halls of the abandoned religious summer camp school where evil Sister Madeline hunts the player and all of its fellow pupils with her large hammer and soul full of hate.
Originally developed for mobile platforms in 2018, this game received a full conversion to PC platform where it was released in late 2022 in Early Access form, enabling players from all around the world to test a dramatically upgraded version of the game that features dramatically upgraded visuals, new puzzles, scenes, and ways to play.
Evil Nun: The Broken Mask enables players to explore school grounds from a first-person perspective, with gameplay and visuals powered by the highly capable Unreal Engine 4. Due to the dramatically upgraded presentation style, players are required to have a bit stronger PC hardware than many other indie horror titles require, but this approach has enabled developers to more successfully build the unnerving atmosphere and effective scares that can only elsewhere be found in expensive AAA releases from large publishers.
Immediately after starting Evil Nun: The Broken Mask, the players will realize that the entire religious summer camp they enter into is a hoax. Now with locked main gates and a crazy nun roaming the school grounds, the player must find any way to escape this dangerous situation. The primary ways to do that are to explore the environments, find other survivors, discover items, and solve a large variety of puzzles.
The story of the game is told in six distinct chapters, with developers slowly releasing them on the PC platform as they are developed with powerful Unreal Engine tools. Visual presentation of this game on PC vastly overshadows the competent attempt made on a mobile platform, enabling modern gaming PCs to render the school in frighting real ways. As of early 2023, only the first chapter “Explosion in the Heights” was released to the public, with other ones being announced for quick release in the following year.
Evil Nun: The Broken Mask is a premium horror game that can be purchased for a much cheaper price than other AAA horror experiences. Its low price covers all main story chapters (including those not currently released to the public), and new players can also test the game out with a FREE demo.
