Overview

FakeApp is an advanced video editing application that enables users to change the faces of the people in their videos using the power of machine learning and AI processing. Utilizing all the latest advances in the development of so-called “deepfake” algorithms, FakeApp represents an all-in-one package for enabling anyone to successfully replace the face of the person in a video with the face of a totally different person. While this type of app was originally capable only to add computer-generated or static 2D images around people faces (fake glasses, bunny ears, mustaches, and other simple elements), incredible advancements in this field have enabled modern software developers to train applications to morph and fit large databases of facial images onto target faces in the videos.

Originally used for comedic purposes and professional face-swapping for large predictions of TV commercials or films, lately, various software solutions capable of face swapping were also used for nefarious acts.

While this app can create realistic face-swapping results, to do so users will have to invest a notable amount of time, effort and provide enough reference data. This reference data must come in the form of a wide array of facial photos that will be analyzed and prepared for matching and morphing into all possible positions. To simplify the process of reference image gathering, users can use this app to load specific training videos that feature necessary facial data. The more data is gathered, the better the final results will be.

To successfully change someone’s face, Fake App will first analyze the video you give it and will try to isolate not only all of the head movements, but also positions and movements of eyes, mouth, and other facial structures. After that data is collected, the app will try to match your reference photos to the video, carefully trying to preserve elements such as eye and mouth movement. The final result will be highly dependent not only on the scope and quality of the reference photos but also on the time that the app uses to correctly match everything together.

FakeApp is not user-friendly and will require the users to handle unwieldy and a bit confusing interface and workflow procedures. In addition to those issues, the app is also resource-hungry, and will sometimes require multi-hour processing in which your CPU, GPU, and RAM will be heavily strained. Additionally, the app itself weighs in a bit over 1.5 GB, and it requires much more free space on your local storage and RAM memory, making it impossible or impractical to run on older/weaker desktop configurations and many laptops.
