Overview

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (GTA) is an award-winning open-world action-adventure released on PC in the summer of 2005 by Rockstar Games. Built on the enhanced version of the game engine that powered their previous hits such as GTA III and GTA: Vice City, Rockstar Games managed to surpass expectations and deliver to the market their largest and most complex game.
This seventh title in the Grand Theft Auto transport players to the San Andreas, a fictionalized version of the state of California and the city of Los Angeles where they can become involved into the daily lives of 1990s criminal underground that famously caused an epidemic of gang violence, drug usage, street rioting, civil unrest and was a target of rampant police brutality.

The game follows the adventures of Carl Jonson, also known as “CJ”, who has after return from prison goes on a mission to clear his name from the framed murder, gain dominance against the competing gang, free his family and take control over the streets of San Andreas valley.

Similarly like in previous games from GTA franchise, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas offers several types of activities that players can engage with throughout the length of this expansive open-world adventure –linear hand-crafted missions that are produced with great care, voice acting talent, animation, and set-piece design, a wide variety of optional side missions, and never-ending set of “systemic” or “sandbox” events that simply happen around the player and enables him to engage in various activities without any time limit.

GTA San Andreas is the visually most stunning attempt of Rockstar Games of recreating modern crime open world environment on now aged PS2 hardware. Thankfully, the PC version of this game can today easily enhance visuals of this 2005 game and showcase its higher resolution and with better visual effects. Same as all other GTA games, San Andreas can be extensively modded with user-made add-ons that can affect not only the core gameplay systems (such as enabling cheats and other changes to the player abilities) but also the available in-game content that CJ interacts with regularly during the play (this can range from new custom cars to whole new missions and areas).

GTA: SA represents the last game Rockstar made before moving on to create games on much more powerful PS3, Xbox 360 and accompanying modern PC hardware, and therefore represents one of the best open-world action games that users with modest PC configurations (including old laptops!) can enjoy both at home and on the go.
