PTC Creo is a suite of CAD (Computer-aided design) apps for designing, iterating, testing, and deploying the latest techniques for discrete manufacturing product design.
This suite consists of a wide variety of apps that all provide a distinct set of capabilities for the advanced development of CAD objects, with built-in tools and services for fast, reliable, and detailed testing. Originally released in 2011 by developers at PTC as the continuation of their previous product line, the app became one of the leaders in the area of CAD design, and one of the strongest competitors to the suites such as CATIA, Siemens NX/Solidedge, and SolidWorks. Between its original release and now, this tool went through five major upgrades which all contributed to the rising popularity and feature extensions of this CAD suite.
In its current form, the Creo suite consists of the following apps - PTC Creo Parametric, PTC Creo Direct, PTC Creo Layout, PTC Creo Options Modeler, Render Studio, and Simulate. The central app of the entire suite is, of course, PTC Creo Parametric, where you can combine parametric and direct modeling, organize your collaborative project building, and accelerate your workflow with a wide array of available tools.
Installation and Use
The complete PTC Creo suite is almost 6GB in size, but since it holds six large applications, you can pick and choose which of them you want to install on your work PC. Be aware that developers from PTC recommend that you have a PC configuration with at least a 2.2 GHz dual-core processor, 2 GB of RAM memory, and 10 GB of free storage space. For handling a larger project, developers fully recommend modern multi-core processors and at least 8 GB of system memory.
The interface of the software has gone through several iterations over the past several years, and its latest version represents the best UI style it ever had.
