Overview

Windows 11 Compatibility Checker is a lightweight system info application that can in mere seconds provide all users of Windows 10 OS if their PC is matching the system requirements needed to upgrade their desktop or laptop to Windows 11 OS.
  • Note: No new features will be added to Windows 11 Compatibility Checker.
  • Bugs and security issues, if any, will continue to be fixed for 6 months from now.
  • Support will fully end on 7 October 2022. After that, this project will be archived and no new updates will be released.

While the upgrade process from Windows 8 and Windows 10 was very streamlined when it appeared in public during the summer of 2015, the upgrade procedure between Windows 10 and 11 is more complicated and requires the presence of more advanced hardware. This includes not only the basic components such as more RAM, stronger CPU, and modern graphics card with Directx12 support, larger screen and storage that is at least 64GB in size, but also the presence of several security features in the motherboard such as UEFI, Secure Boot, and TPM module.

These last three features are the most painful ones for PC users with older hardware and will most likely prevent them from moving to Windows 11. This security hardware is however very much needed to make sure all modern PCs are protected against many threats that can attack OS boot sequences (before any antivirus software can act against them) or threaten entire storage drives.

Windows 11 Compatibility Checker comes in a lightweight package that provides useful system requirements information at a glance. The entire app is just a bit over 200KB in size and does not feature an automated installer and uninstaller.

The user interface lists all nine core requirements directly on its main window, with green or red check marks showcasing if the requirements are met. The app features just three other interactive elements - three buttons located on the bottom of the non-resizable main window -  About, System Requirements (that will showcase the in-depth listing of all Windows 10 requirements), and Dark Mode. Windows 11 Compatibility Checker does not showcase the currently detected hardware, and will just show if the user’s PC is passing or failing.

Windows 11 Compatibility Checker is 100% FREE. While its primary purpose is to provide upgrade information to Windows 10 users, the app can also be run on older Windows OS releases such as Windows 7 and 8.

Requirements

  • .NET Framework 4.5 or later
  • Admin because the TPM status check command requires admin
  • Windows 7 or later
