Overview
Windows Camera is the official camera app for Windows 10. Developed directly by Microsoft Corporation, this lightweight tool is intended to enable any Windows PC or Laptop user with integrated or external webcam with the streamlined, fast, and reliable capability to capture photos and videos.
While the previous versions of Windows came only with the most basic tools that were built only to perform the task of detection and calibration of webcam hardware (leaving the actual capture and editing procedure to 3rd-party apps), this official application brings the power of video capture to any PC user. It features intuitive user interface, a nice set of useful tools, and a wide array of professional background services that can transform your laptop or PC footage into a professional-looking video that can be easily used in school or work project, saved in the personal data library, or even shared online with friends and family on social network destinations.
Windows Camera app is distributed only via Microsoft Store, and therefore enabling all users of Windows 10 and Windows 11 to easily get this app up and running on their PC with a single click on Get button. The app will take a bit less than 50 MB of size on your local storage and will require from user access to the following permissions – webcam, microphone, location, access to the video library, photo library, internet connection, and data stored on external storage devices. However, since this is a video recording app, all those permissions look to be sensible and will not affect your personal data.
The desktop app features a streamlined user interface that promotes easy access to the main photo and video recording tools. The center of Windows Camera Software is given to the full-screen video feed, while the borders hold the main configuration icons for switching recording modes, activating advanced featured, and more. On the bottom of the app is access to PC’s photo and video gallery. All in all, the visual style of the app very closely resembles those of a mobile app, and because of that, it will be most comfortable for use on laptops and tablets where users can more freely interact with the app with the touch interface.
Some of its advanced features include video stabilization, sharpening, Whiteboard Mode for enhancing small details, ability to scan documents, user-configurable exposure, ISO and other controls, and more. Windows Camera is 100% FREE and can be run only on updated versions of Windows 10 or Windows 11.
